Since the dawn of time, man has looked up into the starry night sky and pondered about its secrets. Evidence is scattered throughout the world from the Glasco cave paintings in France to Riemmans mathematical feats.

What does the universe look like? Where's our place in the universe? Are we alone? Is there a God? And many more questions have been liggering in our minds ...

Since recorded history, manking has been trying to answer these questions, and over the years humanity's understanding of his surroundings has evolved. We all remember sitting in class and laughing at how stupid people were back in the day because they thought the world was flat. But we all know what happens after, someone came up and stated that it wasn't so! The world is round and we are not the center of the universe. This was earth shattering news! What a blow to man's ego to no longer be the center of the universe. But how this such truth come to pass? most people during that time were illerate and relied on the Church for guidance. So aside from blind acceptance, how could a conscience mind at that time know what the truth was? Was the Earth round or flat?

It poses an interesting dilemma, which brings one to wonder, how much of today's common knowledge is really true? What has society bred-fed us and was is really true? But in order to answer that question we must first establish a definition of truth and agree upon it. Some argue that there isn't such a thing as truth, the possibility of universal truth is impossible for them, to them I say: "Does gravity not affect everything?"

Although this is a moral question which has been well examined by some of the greatest minds, for our intents and purposes we sill stick to universal truth as it pertains to physics. If we go back to our previous example of our concept of the universe we can create a good hypothethical situation. If one didn't know anything about his surroundings how ould one go about discovery the truth? One of the best ways of understanding a discovery is to relive it through the eyes of the discoverer. So short of flying out into space and taking a snapshot how did the ancient greeks know that the Earth was round and even estimated its circumference?
